St. John's College Rifle Cadets of Tamaki have been accepted. The regulations which' come into operation on September Ist, as to the overcrowding of sailing vessels with passengers are gazetted. Christchdroh, Thursday. At a special meeting of the executive of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, the following resolution was carried: —"That the imputation made in the House by Sir Robert Stout thab Ministers conferred with the leaders of the Railway Servants Society in Christchurch regarding the appointment of Railway Commissioners and the dismissal of certain officers, is absolutely without the slightest foundation, and can only be viewed in the light of a deliberate and wilful misrepresentation of facts for the purpose of bringing discredit upon the Government." The first meeting of the creditors in the estate of John Thomas Matson, formerly auctioneer, was held to-day. The bankrupt's statement showed secured creditors, £3787 13s 4d (security £3880); unsecured, £1876 13s 7d. The debtor attributes his bankruptcy to depreciation in the value of property.
