ATTEMPTED SUICIDE ON THE WAIHORA.
[by TELEGRAPH. —press ASSOCIATION.] Napier, Saturday. Jamss Coachman, a steerage passenger by the Waihora, attempted suicide on the passage from the North. He fired two pistol shots at-himself, one missing, while the other grazed! the right side of his face. Alongside him in hits bunk was found a sixchatobered revolver, with four chambers still loaded. Coachman was brought ashore in the morning, and placed in the lock-up. The revolver was purchased when the Wyalong gold rush was on, but Coachman, changing his mind, came on to New Zealand. No reason is assigned, but the man was in a depressed condition, and suffered much from sea-sickness on the voyage.
