[BY TBLKGRAPH. — PIIKS3 ASSOCIATION. 1 Wellington, Thursday. The vital statistics of the four cities for the year show thab the proportion of births to 1000 of the population was : —Auckland, 27*79 ; Wellington, 2S-23 ; Clirisbchurch, 20'; Dunedin, 20 54. The proportion of deaths was:—Auckland, 12 9; Wellington, 13 43; Christchurch, 12'8; Dunedin, 12*26. A comparison of the death rate with that in the Australian capitals show that the New .Zealand rate is lower. There wore 119 deaths from measles in bho four chief towns, viz. : — Auckland, 41 ; Wellington, 35 ; Christchurch, . 19 Dunedin, 21 From influenza there were 16 deaths, from whooping cough 13, and from typhoid 24. There were 67 violent deaths, against 68 in 1892.
