Press Association.—Electric Telegraph.— Melbourne, June 16. The Seamen's Union have passed a resolution against the acceptance of a reduction in wages. It is anticipated that very few of the crews will avail themselves of the opportunity to send delegates to discuss the matter with the owners. The conference will probably take place today. Sydney, June 16. The Secretary of the Guards and Sliunteis Union, whose suspension was announced yesterday, has been dismissed from the service. An official letter states that the man being a constant grumbler, there was no other course left open to the department but to remove him from a service with which he was dissatisfied, and adds that if the men have any bona fide grievances they will receive immediate attention. J Later. The proposed conference between the seamen and shipowners, on the subject of a reduced rate of wages, fell through. The latter have decided to adopt the reductions suggested by Messrs. Mcllwraith, McEacharn and Co., and also to lay up a number of vessels if the seamen refuse to accept the smaller rate of pay. The seamen complain that the reductions were put in, force before they had time to consult their union on the subject. ___«_
