NEW MARKET BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The usual fortnightly meeting of the Newmarket Borough Council was held yesterday evening. Present: Messrs. G. Kent (Mayor), Stone, Laxon, Whyman, Heron, Edgerley, and Lumpkin. Charitable Aid Board Election.The Mayor was appointed a delegate to attend a meeting of the representatives of the boroughs of Parnell, Newmarket, Birkenhead, and Newton, to be hold at the Resident Magistrate's Court, on Wednesday, November 23, at two p.m., for the purpose of electing one member to represent the said boroughs on the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. The Mayor was instructed to vote for the present representative of the Boroughs, Mr. A. Kidd. Burgess Roll. —An application from Mr. John Johnson to have his name placed upon burgess roll was granted. Finance.—General account, debit, £119 6?; waterworks account, credit, £202 14s ; interest account, credit, £90 108; sinking fund account, credit, £80. Town Clerk's Office.--On the motion of Mr. Whyman seconded by Mr. Angus, it was resolved " That a sum not exceeding £5 be spent in partitioning off a portion of the library as an office for the Town Clerk. —The purchase of 1000 gallons of coal tar for the purpose of repairing the footpaths was authorised.
