THE MINISTRY.
[BY telegraph.— correspondent.] Wellington, Thursday. The Minister for Public Works hopes to be able to go South to-morrow. Ho has deferred his Australian trip until after the new year. Although his visit to Australia will be non-official, and chiefly on private business, it should not be forgotten that Mr. Seddon is a mining expert of considerable authority in respect to gold-saving processes, and was for several years chairman of the goldflolds committee. Ho will probably visit the principal goldmining centres, and inspect the machinery in use for separating the precious metals from the matrix. The Premier has abandoned his proposed trip to the West Coast Sounds. This statement has awakened considerable interest in the state of hia health. His friends and colleagues say lib health is improved. The impression outside Government buildings is not so sanguine. The Hon. MacKonzie has reached his home, and is said to be rapidly recovering his strength.
