OPENING THE INTERIOR.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I see by this morning's paper that the Hon. Mr. Reeves is likely to address the people_ of Auckland on matters politic. There is a question I would like answered, not for my own sake, but for that of the community at large, that is, are we to-day haunted by the native bogie as much as 20 years ago? There is an old saying that "Every new broom sweeps clean." Our present most respected Native Minister made great promises, and many of them, that he would sweep the native bogie off the face of the earth. He has been at it for a period of two years, and lias done nothing in the way of removing this bogie out of the King Country. He certainly has completed the purchase of one or two blocks of land, a work that was practically done by his predecessors. Now as there are two Native Ministers instead of one, let us hope that the King Country will be opened to European settlement, and that soon, for it can be done, against all that is said to the. contrary.—l am, &c., C. Fraser, Mount Eden. October 10,1892. v J
