THE WESLEYAN CHURCH BILL.
. TO, THE EDITOR. Sib,— Herewith I beg to hand you a copy of a resolution being an extract from the minutes of the committee therein referred to. —I am, etc, „ J. Barber, Secretary. * .[extract.] - " That this committee of Weslayan Methodists opposed to the Wesleyan Methodist Church Property Trust Bill as originally
sought to be passed through the Legislature this session desires most cordially to convey to the editors of the secular press of Auckland its high appreciation of the timely and generous manner in which their columns were thrown open for a considerable period for the fullest discussion of the provisions of the Bill, and also ventures to express to she substantial minority of members of the House of Representatives who voted against the measure, and to the large majority of the Legislative Council, its admiration of the promptness with which they grasped the situation, so exceptional in its character, and by their clear and decisive action averted the passing of the measure of ' class legislation' and one which the opponents of the Bill believe would, if it had become law, have jeopardised a fundamental and fondly-cherished principle of the Wesleyan Methodist Constitution.
