PROFITS ON SILVER COINAGE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, Referring to your interesting subleader on the silver coinage, but few people are aware of the enormous profits made by the Imperial mint. The cost of minting ana issuing the half-crown piece is Is 7£d, netting profit of roughly 52£ per cent., not at all a bad transaction for the Imperial mint.—l am, etc., ; C. J. Long.
