OPAHEKE ROAD BOARD.
The first meeting of theOpaheke Road Board was held in the Valley School, Ararimu, on Saturday, the 14th instant. Present : Messrs. Dunn, Kiddle, Markham, and Whelan. On the motion of Mr. Dunn, Mr. Kiddle was re-elected chairman. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Tenders were received for building a bridge in Maketu, as follows Messrs. Sinclair and Stembridge, £17 15s lid; Messrs. Douglas and Toomey, £24 10s. Resolved, " To accept Messrs. Sinclair and Stembridge's tender." Phelan's Road : The clerk reported having waited on the Resident Magistrate at Papakura, in reference to closing the old road between lots 120 and 121. Resolved, " That the clerk make the best arrangement possible." The members having drawn lots for deciding who should rctircjiext year, the lot fell to essrs. Markham." Resolved, 44 That a rate of three farthings in the £ be struck at next meeting; Messrs. Kiddle and Whelan to sign the rate-book, and it be left at Mr. Kiddle's for inspection." Resolved, " That Mr. Kiddle be treasurer, and that Messrs. Kiddle, Markham, and Whelan sign cheques." Resolved, " That Mr. J. T. Stembridge be clerk and collector tor the ensuing year." Decided to inspect the bridge near Mr. Wright's, Maketu, and call tenders by next meeting.—[Ararimu Correspondent.J
