HAWERA. Tiif, Eomont Farmers' Union* (Limited) Rftort.—On Friday, the 13th instant, we held our stock sale at Manaia, postponed from Wednesday, 11th instant, on account of the Egmont winter race meeting. There was a very large entry of both cattle and sheep, about 700 head of the former and 800 of the latter coming forward for sale; the cattle especially were worthy of note, being a superior lot. The attendance, though moderate at the commencement, gradually increased as the sale went on, so that at the end we had a very large muster. Bidding was spirited for | most lines of cattle particularly fat heifers, and sheep also met with a ready sale, so that at the close of the day most lines of stock had changed hands at the following prices Fat and forward bullocks, £4 15s to £5 1 Os: two to two and a-half year-old steers, £4 5s 6d to £4 7s 6d ; fat cows and heifers, £3 18s to £4 IDs; springers* and milkors, £4 to £5 5a : empty heifers. £3 lis to £3 ltis ; eighteen months to two year heifers, £2 17s 6d to £3; wean or . £1 15s. Sheep ; Wethers, fat, 12s Oil to 13s 9d ; ewes, misled ages. 9s 3d ; lambs, 7s 4d. We held our fortnightly stock sale in the Glover road yards, Hawera. on Wednesday, the ISth instant. Although we had about 400 head of cattle and nearly 1000 sheep entered for sale, what actually came forward were somewhat short of this number. The attendance was fair, and bidding all round was well maintained, so that moat lines were sold at the hammer or immediately after the sale. We quote : —Fat bullocks, £0 4s ; two and a-half to three year steers, £4 9s to £4 12s 6il ; eighteen months to two year steers, £3 to £3 10s ; weaners, £1 17s: fat cows and heifers, £3 lis to £4 12s 0(1: cows in calf, £3 lis to £4 12s 6d.
