THE NATIVE MINISTER.
[BY TELEGRAPH.OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Rotorua, Saturday. Mr. Cadman's time, from six p.m. to ten p.m., was taken up last night with interviews. There was no organised deputations of Europeans, but Messrs. Seddon, Corlett, and Brent waited upon tho Minister, on matters of local importance. Mr. Corlett asked if the Government were determined to continue the railway into the township, as it had been reported that certain interests wero at work to have the terminus near the old sehoolhouse. Mr. Cadman replied that when funds wero available, tho Government would certainly have the railway terminus in the township, as originally intended. Mr. Seddon, a leaseholder in tho old township, suggested that the Government should assist residents in the old township to acquire the freehold of properties now leased and in occupation by them on a twenty years purchase, and tho Government at any tinvj could secure the freehold themsolves by allowing for improvements. Mr. Cadman replied that whilst recognising that something was necessary, the Thermal Springs Act was a barrier, and until it was repealed or special legislation granted, nothing could be done. Mr. Brent asked that as Mr. Cadman had now control of the Government Printing Department, would ho authorise pamphlets to be published, giving information of the district. Mr. Cadman replied, suggesting that application be made on this head through the Town Board, and he would endeavour to have something done. The Minister left this morning lor Taupo en route for Wellington.
