Shipowners and investors should not miss the chance afforded them to-day for a profitable investment in the offerine for sale of the well-known brigantino Sarah Pile. She requires a certain amount of repairs after her recent stranding, but can easily be made seaagain. The Sarah Pile is a handy size, 115 tons, and being a good carrier and fast sailer is well adapced for the intercolonial, coastal, or island trades. The sale takes place at Messrs. Esam and Arthur's at 10.30 a. 111, Last evening the Northern S.S. Co.'s Argyle went to Kuaotunu and Mercury Bay in place of the regular packet lona, which lias gone into dock for her periodical inspection and cleaning. » At the Queen-street Wharf the British barque ; Helen Denny is steadily filling up with mixed colonial products for home. During yesterday Messrs. Donald and Edenborough's island steamer Richmond completed loading for her numerous ports, and in the evening she sailed for the first, Nukualofa, Tonga, with a full freighting and about a dozen passengers. , At the Customs yesterday the schooner • Three Cheers was entered out for Sydney via Mercury Bay. : The s.s. Poherua has completed her dis- , charge at the Sugar Works and hauled j alongside the Queen-street Wharf. ] Charters at acceptable rates appear to be , very scarce in Auckland just now as several handy-sized vessels arc lying in port awaiting a chance to pick up a freight. , The schooner Olive is shipping timber and ' sundries for the Tongan Group, and will sail , this week.

The Union S.S. Co.'a Te Kapo took in a portion of her cargo for the South yesterday. She is timed to leave at noon to-day. The frequent wrecks on the coast of Victoria recently have thrown an unusual abate of responsibility upon the Victorian Shipwreck Relief Society. The last report of the proceedings to hand contains the following : —" Mr. St radian said that money subscribed by the public for the sufferers by the wrecks of the barque Fiji and s.s. Gambler was handed over to the Victorian Shipwreck Relief Society, so that it might give what was necessary, and any surplus would go to the credit of the society. Mr. Siddeley said that the money in question was handed over to the society, and the rules of the society provided that only the claims of sailors, and not those ,of passengers, should be recognised."
