HAWKES BAY SHEEP SHOW.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—PRKSB ASSOCIATION.] ; Napier, Thursday. The Hawko'i Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society's show opened to-day. As usual the day was given to sheep. In merinos only R. D. McLean, Roys#, and Anderson, Melbourne and Hatuma: stations, showed. The first-named all but swept the board of prizes. In long wools competition was very keen, a large proportion coming from beyond tho provincial district. The Hon. M. Holmes took two: champion cups for Lincoln#, and a number of first prized. Sheep bred by J. Reid, but exhibited by local owners, were also highly successful. In . Komney Marsh, R. Harding beat all competitors. In Shropshires, several importations from Scotland by the North British Hawko's Bay > freezing Company, and J. and W. Wilson, of Hawera, took most of the priaes. There were no Leicesters, Cotawolds, or. South Downs. The long wool peui wero i great feature of the show. '
Messrs/ ftojjan and Co. &r« giving up their poultry farms at Karori. During tho five and a half years of its existence the firm bar* won over 1000 prises.
