I< V During yesterday the Shaw-Savill and " Albion Co.'s fine cargo steamer Maori was at g the Queen-street Wharf very busily engaged v in discharging her cargo from London, and a s large quantity was got out in excellent condi- c tion. Mrs. Cotton J accompanied the master as a passengar. c The ship Leading Wind was yesterday floated into the Auckland Graving Dock for sighting and cleaning. She is the largest sailer that has been in this dock, and with the exception of the a.s. Triumph the largest craft of all classes. The barque Valparaiso, Captain Ahrens, left port yesterday for New York with her valuable lading of gum and flax.. I H.M.s. Orlando's stay in port here is expected to terminate in about ten days. ■. The gunboat Goldfinch will likely go to the Hervey Group shortly instead of H.M.s. Lizard, as originally intended. Advices from Port Chalmers announce the . safe arrival there of the American barque ' Alice after a lengthy passage of 100 days from New York. The Alice has a part freighting for this port, and will come on here to discharge and to load back with gum and flax for New York. * The departure of the s.s. Waihora for the ' South and Melbourne yesterday was delayed till after 3 p.m., in order to ship the Southern consignments of the S.S. and A. Maori's cargo from London. Early yesterday the s.s. Clansman arrived from the North with a cargo of gum, flax, and sundries, and in the evening she left again for Tauranga. ■ ■* The four vessels which arrived on Wednesday with Australian coal—the barques Devonport and Killarney and schooners Clansman and Three Cheers—are all busily putting out their " black diamonds."
