BOROUGH COUNCILS.

PARNELL. The ordinary meeting of the Parnell Borough Council was held last evening. Present: Messrs. Sealy (Mayor), Savage. Thornes, Augur, Kissling, Coleman, Gilmour, Gay, and McCabe.

Plans.ln reply to an inquiry relative to the cost of preparing duplicates of the plans of drainage works in the borough, Mr. John Boylan stated that a set drawn on tracing paper would cost 7s 6d per sheet, if on cloth 9s 6d per sheet. The set would comprise 24 sheets. He recommended cloth in preference to paper, being more durable. Mr. Kissling did not think it necessary to have the duplicates, and he moved " That the town clerk be instructed to obtain possession of the originals, and to have them placed in a secure place." The plans were at present in the possession of Mr. Boylan. This resolution was agreed to. Burgess Roll.— Scarlett applied to have his name replaced upon the burgess roll. He stated that he was debarred from registering his vote on the last occasion, as his name had been struck off, apparently without any reason. It was decided to inform applicant that he was struck off last year as he was a defaulter with his rates, but such rates having since been paid, his name would be replaced.

Charitable Aid.—Mr. H. N. Garland, on behalf of the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, wrote for payment, on or before 30th April, 1891, of the sum of £151 13s 4d, being the amount allocated to be paid by the Council. The communication was received.

Ayr-street.—A number of the residents of the north side of Ayr-street wrote complaining that notwithstanding the fact that the street was used for traffic from Lower Remuera and elsewhere, and that they had paid rates for many years past, the footpath was greatly out of repair, and the late rains had greatly damaged the path, and that further damage would be done in the coming winter. They suggested that the path should be renewed and put in proper order as soon as possible. The letter was referred to the streets committee.

Hokianga Land.—ln answer to a letter from the Council to the Government .de manding payment of rent to th~ amount of £121 for certain endowment land at Hokianga, the Colonial Secretary replied that upon inquiry in the Lands' Department he had found that but £37 10s 9d had accrued from the rents of the endowment in question up to the 31st December, 1890, and a voucher for the amount was now on its way from the Auckland land office for authorisation, and payment. The consideration of this communication was deferred. AlbtoN-STKKet.—Mr. W. H. • Lyttlejohn called the attention of the Council to the fact that, owing to an overflow from the steeet, a considerable amount of his allotment had been washed away. Ho asked for a few loads of earth to make the damage good. Tj£© matter was referred to the Streets Committee.

Accounts.Accounts to the amount of £83 16s 8d were passed, for payment. Clyde --The question of the drainage of Clyde road was brought forward by the Mayor. This road had not been taken over by the Council, hut the state of the drainage was such as to create a nuisance. It was decided that Mr. Sutherwood be notified that he must connect with the drain, or the drainage would-be done by the Council, who would recover the cost from him according to the Act. 7 ■■■-"
