BANKRUPTCY.

DEBTOR'S EXAMINATION. Pascok Spiddlk Marks, in his depositions before the Official Assignee yesterday, made the following statement: —For some years pasb I have worked as a painter, paperhanger, fisherman, engine driver, and. latterly as a stoker on board the s.s. Chelmsford, since September last at £9 per month and found. 1 have a wife and five children, whoso ages range from sixteen months to nine years. Previous to joining the Chelmsford I did not average more than 12s per week for the two previous years, being out of work for the greater portion of that time. My debts amount to £105 Is lOd, some of which have been contracted within the last few months. More than half my indebtedness was contracted over three years ago. So far it has been impossible to put anything out of my wages for creditors, because we all required clothing, which had been very bare. I have told the majority of my creditors that I was willing to pub aside a part of my wages for them if they would give me time to get straight, but one of them summoned me, and I had therefore no alternative bub filing to avoid being sent to gaol. I am not sure of my present employment lasting, and consequently cannot see my way to suggest any compromise with my creditors.
