THE CHRISTCHURCH GAS COMPANY.
[by telegraph. PRESS association.] CHiasTcnuncH, Thursday. The twenty-fifth annual meeting of the Christchurch Gas Company was held today. The balance-sheet showed the revenue for the year to be £27,916 14s 3d, against £27,481 10s 8d the preceding year. The balance credit of the profit and loss account was £10,569 14s 4d, and the directors recommended a dividend of 5 per cent., which, with a similar dividend declared in July, made 10 per cent, for the year. £569 14s 4d was carried forward. The length of the main laid to date is 59 miles, the number of public lamps 004, and the number of cooking stoves 2151. The chairman mentioned that, owing to the foresight of the directors, the loss occasioned through the strike was not so great as in the case of most gas companies.
