PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION.

Tun following is a brief notice of photographs at present on view at the Auckland Photographic Club's Exhibition The first place among the exhibits is deservedly taken by a series of ten photographs, the werk of the late G. D. Valentine, first president of the Club. .The Training Station, Rarotonga, and the Wharf, Papeete, Tahiti, show wonderful clearness in the reflections without any loss of softness or distance, bub probably the pictures most admired will be a View on the Waikato, near Ateamuri, and a New Zealand Bush Scene. A photograph of the South Crater, Termination of the Rotomahana Rent, is a great triumph over no ordinary difficulties, as is also a view of the Crow's Nest Geyser, Taupo ; indeed the whole series is uniformly excellent. Mr. H. B. Morton shows a series of six views of Norfolk scenery, of which the gems are Belaugh, Antringham Parish Church," and Herring Farm and Broad. The same exhibitor shows a good view of the valley of the river Dart, Otago, with Cosmos Peaks in the distance. Mr. T. Humphries contributes a pair of good bromide enlargements—Mount Egmont, and the White Cliffs, Taranaki, as well as halfplate silver prints of Wellington, and a view in the Recreation Grounds, New Plymouth. Mr. R. B. Walrond is represented by bromide enlargements of Boulders in the Matamata Creek, and Dam at Papakura, as well as views on the Waikato. Much attention was also attracted by " Sympathy," in which, however, the expression of the boy's face is hardly grave enough for the subject. Mr. F. Will's silver prints form quite a feature of the show. We may mention in particular the Waitakerei cascade. Mr. Park shows five views on the -Waitakerei and Nihotupu streams and Mr. Hunter a set of seven photographs of the famous Waitomo caves, as well as a set of ten views, chiefly of Remuera. Wo must not omit to mention a specimen of photo-mechanical printing by the same exhibitor. Mr. Boulton's bromide qontact prints of the Lot Lakes are beautifully clear and delicate. Mr. Francis showr a set of twelve bromide contact prints, comprising views on the Hunua, Nihotupu, and Waitakerei streams, also an enlargement of a gnrndiggers' whare, West Coast Road. Additional attractions to visitors are the beautiful stereoscopic shades kindly, lent by Mr. Eugstor, and " Our Celebrities," a portrait gallery placed on the clubroom table by Mr. J. R. Hanna. Members of the club are reminded that an exhibition of lantern I slides will be given on Thursday evening.
