ARCHHILL BRICK AND TILE COMPANY.
A meeting) of the shareholders of fclio Archhill Brick and Tile Company was held yesterday afternoon at the offices, New Zealand Insurance Buildings, Mr. R. C. Barsbow presiding. The Chairman said the business was tho consideration of tho following motion :■ — "That bho directors sell the property and assets of tho company on the best terms and conditions obtainable." He said they know tho unpleasant position of tho directors, who had fought against difficulties, and had become responsible to the bank for a considerable amount of money. They had greatly reduced this by making calls, and there had been hopes until lately that the business would have beon a prosperous one. Tho Chairman referred to the adverse circuinatancos under which some bricks made by the company had boen condemned. Ho believed thoro was a prospect of being able to sell the plant and machinery. The yard was a leasehold.
In answer to a question, Mr. Clark said tho liabilities of the company were beteen £800 and £900.
The Chairman said that if they could get a fair price for tho plant, and something for the bricks, they ought to be able to dispense with further calls. Mr. W. S. Wilson moved tho proposal mentioned by tho chairman, and ib was seconded by Mr. P. Brophy, and agreed to.
