A MISSING FARMER
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin, Monday. James Shand, a.well-known resident of the Taieri, has been missing from home since Friday last. On Wednesday he was in town, and obtained several documents from the Official Assignee, and afterwards reburned to his farm at Abboteford. Ho was then in rather a depressed state of mind, and complained that he had of late suffered from insomnia. He was last seen on Friday morning by some farm employees, to whom he spoke in his usual manner, and then walked over the fields, as was his custom every day. James Wilson and Peter Duncan loft town on Saturday afternoon, and assisted in the search for him, which is being made by several parties, but up to yesterday he had not been found. Shand's coat, hat, and stick were found on Saturday on the river bank about a quarter of a mile from the farm. A good deal of anxiety is felt by Mr, Shand's many friends.
