[by TELEGRAPH.PRESS association.] Ciiristchurch, Thursday. Thos. Herrick, who for several months has conducted a Home for destitute men in Christchurch, writes to the Star that for the past two months he has received so little help as to make him almost inclined to close the Homo, though demands upon it are so numerous and pressing. He encloses « letter from a runholder at Kaupora, who says that so far from there being work in the country districts, large numbers of men are wandering about seeking employment. He frequently has to give food and shelter to from six to twelve men, many of them starving.
