AN AQUARIUM.
TO THE EDITOR. Sik, —Having recently visited Melbourne and Sydney, I observed in both places how popular a resort the aquaria are. There is a handsome one at the Melbourne Exhibition, and at Bondi, in Sydney, a very creditably-arranged aquarium is a constant attraction, and is supplemented by a number of amusing adjuncts—such as a switchback railway, a merry-go-round, and similar amusements. The aquaria possess seal ponds, glass boxes of live fish of various kinds, sea anemones, tortoises, and ferneries. Ib seems to me that if the North Shore Ferry Company, or some other enterprising body, would establish an aquarium at Devonport, it would, if well conducted, prove a great source of attraction for our residenb population, and for visitors to Auckland. The suggestion may be worthy of notice.—l am, &c, Aocklander. Auckland, October 26, 1888.
