CENTENNIAL MEETING OF THE V.R.A.

The final competition for representatives was fired yesterday afternoon, in the midst of frequent showers, which rendered shooting very unpleasant work indeed. Captain White, who goes at his own expense, still heads the list, and Parslow is next, with Rout and Lumsden close on his heels, and McCarthy and Fairs well up. Captain Skinner was in charge of the firing, and was assisted by Messrs. Jones, Stanford, and Shemilt. We trust the volunteers will all unite to make the projected performance a success, and thus provide the committee with funds to send at least four representatives to Melbourne in addition to those who will attend the meeting at their own expense. A meeting of officers of the Garrison will be held to-night at the Drill-shed to make arrangements for carrying out the intended volunteer concert in a manner suitable to the volunteers, as in the past these entertainments have never been the success they ought to have been, generally ending in the committee being out of pocket, owing to the poor attendance of tho different corps. We give the scores of those who fired in the three competitions :— Competition. Ist 2nd 3rd Tl. Cap.
