THE V.R.C. MEETING. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION".] Melbourne, September 8. The following horses have been scratched for the Derby : — Venture, Molyneaux, Heathcote. For the Melbourne Cap : Venture. VICTORY FOR CINDERELLA. Sydney, September S. At the Rosehill Racing Club's Spring Meeting to day, Cinderella (Sst 101b) won the Sprinters' Handicap (six furlongs). From Australian papers to hand by the Zealandia we take the following training notes :— September 1. Honeydew and First Flaneur were on the inside track, and the former had all the best of a fast mile and a-quarter : while The Queen was treated to useful work. Frisco, who appeared to be in the pink of condition, was rattled over a mile and a-half, and lie will bo a very hard horse to bear, in more than one of the big events now on the tapis. Volley and Ensign were mated over a mile and a-quarter, and the V.R.C. Derby favourite had it all her own way at the finish. After cantering, Plutarch and Aberdeen accomplished a good mile and a-half, the former finishing in front, and the style in which ho finished shows that he has considerable claim on the Hawkesbury Handicap. Carlyon andAbcrcorn were sent strong work, and are coming on well. The Australian Peer and Touchstone went a mile and a quarter at a good strong pace, while Arsenal worked on the tan. The Rosehill Cup favourite, Keith did a mile and a-quarter in his best style.

September 5. The Australian Peer and Wycombe were treated to a useful mile and a-half, and Melos had a deal more to say than Arsenal over a mile and a-quarter on the tan. I'haon showed to advantage over a mile and aquarter with Pasha and Ladv Marion. Plutarch cantered and brushed home smartly. Volley ran a fast five furlongs, and Carlyon, Abercorn, and Aberdeen were sent along for a strong mile and a-half. I'earlshell beat: Melbury over a mile spin. Lord of the Lake and Thetis tried to help Keith over a mile and a-half, but were very little use to him, and the gallant little fellow accomplished a really good gallop. The following are the quotations for the Rosehill Cup (to be run on Wednesday next) : —6 to 1 v. Keith, 8 to I each v. Invader, Elsie, and Lamond, 10 to 1 v. Rebel, 12 to 1 each v. Frisco and Monte Christo, 14 to 1 v. Touchstone, 15 to 1 each v. Plutarch and Cardigan. Lyndhurst was accorded some support for the Hawkesbury Handicap, and was backed to win a fair stake down to 100 to 8. For the Caul field Cup, Chicago was firm at 100 to 7, while at a point less Mentor has been accorded staunch support. The run on Volley for the V.R.C. Derby still continues. After the market had been cleared of all threes to one, an offer to take 000 to 500 that the daughter of Musket wins, remained unsatisfied, and 7 to 4 was the best price obtainable about her.

THE DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS association.] Ddnedin, Saturday. At the general meeting of the Dunedin Jockey Club the totalisator rules agreed to by the metropolitan clubs, to corne into force on the Ist of January next, were adopted. The Hon. G. McLean, in moving them, said the club felt some difficulty in agreeing to them, as the machine had not been much abused in Otago, but it had become a matter of necessity, and it had become a question of restricting the machine or doing away with it altogether.
