COMMERCIAL.

Nsw Zraxan'd Herald Office, Tuesday evening. The Customs receipts to-day amounted to £2454 0s 6d. The following is from the latest circular of Messrs. C. S. Ross and Co., brokers of timber and building material :— The sales this month have been lighter than those reported in our last, owing to the shortness of stocks held in the public yards, and the disinclination of holders to submit their goods for sale. Prices for all classes of timber have advanced, but cement is a shade easier and the market for galvanised iron, through the frequent small shipments from Sydney, is much weaker. The deliveries from the public yajds are very active, and are greatly in excess of the arrivals.

Kauri. —Imports : 508,453 feet super. The ar rivals have been Caberfeidh and Devonport, from Kaipara. The balance of unsold baulk has been quitted publicly this month at prices ranging from 10s to 113 3d per 100 feet super, and the next cargo to arrive will meet a good market.
