Remarks.—From Ist to 6th, fine dry weather; 7th, Bth, and Oth, strong N.E. gale, ending in heavy rain, 1*52 inches being registered on the morning of the 9th ; heavy rain also on the evening of the 10th, I*4o inches falling in a few hours; from thence to the end of the month unsettled and stormy, with cold W. and B.W. winds. Barometric pressure slightly under the average of the previous 21 years; mean temperature 2 degrees below the average; rainfall more than double the average, and the highest recorded for the month of March since 1879.
