Lieut.-Colonel Rookes writes strongly in the Whanganui Herald on volunteer matters. He says " The idea of a body of Volunteer Cavalry, outraged by being inspected, drilled, and what is worse, comSlimented by our worthy Infantry Lieut.olonel, who knows less of Cavalry than he does of the liquidation of New Zealand's national debt."
