FIRES IN THE SOUTH.

Wellington, Tuesday. J. C. Thompson s old store, occupied on one side by Mr. Fagan, of Bulls, as a temporary bootshop, and on the other by Clark and Co.,'of Wellington, as a temporary drapery, was burned this morning. The building was. uninsured. The stock of Clark's is insured in Wellington, and Fagan's at-Bulls, bub the amounts have not been ascertained. The fire started in a coach-house at the rear of the shop. ■ , Blenheim, Tuesday. _ A fire broke out at a quarter to two this morning in a small shop, occupied by Mr. Scallard, tailor, near Maxwell Road Bridge. The flames quickly spread to Carr's (tinsmith) adjoining building, which was completely gutted, and very little of the stock was saved. Scallard was uninsured, but Carr had £200 on his stock, and £50 on the building. Carr, who has charge of the fire-engines, estimates his loss over insurances at'£7oo to £800.
