At noon yesterday the Union S.S. Co.'s fcteamer Te Anau, Captain Mcintosh, arrived from Sydney with passengers and cargo. Mr. Guy, the purser, reports of the trip :—Sailed from New Zealand Wharf at Sydney at 6.10 S.m. on the sth instant, and cleared Port ackson Heads at 7 p.m. The Three Kings were abeam at 3 p.m. on the 9th instant, and the steamer arrived alongside the wharf as above. Experienced light N.E. winds and fine weather throughout the passage. At the Customs yesterday the barquentine Grecian Bend was entered outwards for Melbourne. She will probably sail to-night, proceeding to Tairua, where she will fill up with timber for the V ictorian capital. As soon as the brigantine Rvno has completed her discharge she will "be placed on > the berth for Suwarrow Island, where she will load copra and island produce. The three-masted schooner Waireka, Captain Bell, got away for Mercury Bay yesterday. She will there take in sawn timber and sail to Norfolk Island, for which she has a small amount of cargo, afterwards proceeding to Noumea, to which port the bulk of her timber is consigned. Shortly after five o'clock yesterday evening . the s.s. Waihora sailed for Sydney, via Rus"with a good number of passengers and general cargo. The East Coast trading steamer Suva sailed at 6 p.m. yesterday for her usual ports along the coast with a few passengers and a cargo of sundries. We learn that the barque Clifton has been fixed to load coal at Newcastle for this port, and may be expected to sail in a week or so. The Customs < inquiry into the sinking of the Tangihua will be held at Dargaville on Friday by Captain Smith, collector. Nothing has been done toward raising the wreck. Her boiler and bunkers were empty, and she lifts, a little with the tide, ana can be easily . raised. The Auckland portion of the Tainui's cargo will be brought to this port by the s.s. Omapere, which is to leave Dunedin tomorrow. She is expected here on Tuesday next. The attention of passengers and shippers is directed to an announcement in another column that the s.s. Maori will leave the Manukau on Thursday next for Greymouth. --! The s.s. Ohau is expected to leave Oamaru on Monday, 16th, and will call at East Coast ports, being timed to arrive here about the 23rd inst. !,v r By the latest Sydney files we notice that H.M.s. Opal is to be docked for cleaning and repainting. Why could the work not have been done in our new Calliope Dock during the vessel's lengthy stay in this port ?
