THE TIMBER SYNDICATE.
By the Te Anau yesterday, Messrs. Blair, Sharp, Walker, and Christian, who have been in Auckland for some time on behalf of the party in Melbourne who propose to purchase mills and bushes here, left for Sydney. Mr. Campbell, who was also of tho party, left a few days ago. They have taken with them plans showing the positions of the bushes, statements of accounts, and all the information obtainable in connection with the properties. Mr. Holdship accompanies them to aid in the exposition of affairs in Melbourne. There are still
several difficulties to be overcome, and Mr. Holdship has gone to meet the whole body of those interested, and to lay before them the fullest information. The great trouble in this, as in all large undertakings, is to get the sollers to agree to take such a price as, under ordinary circumstances, they would be glad to accept. It is to bo hoped the matter will not fall through after so much trouble has been taken. It would be a good thing for Auckland, and be a very remunerative speculation for the syndicate.
