Mr. T. B. Hannaford, who at one time was in the employ of Messrs. Brassey and Co., formerly great railway contractors, has just received from Lord Brassey (the son of the head of that firm) a presentation copy of a small work written by Lord Brassey, entitled "For My Children; A Brief Memoir of Their Dear Mother." The lamented and somewhat sudden death of Lady Brassey in September last, while yachting off the coast of Northern Queensland in the Sunbeam, must be fresh in the memories of our readers. The memoir by Lord' Brassey is a simple but eloquent tribute to the virtues of a devoted and affectionate wife. He closes his sketch of Lady Brassey's life thus : "I do not recall these things solely as a tribute to the dear one who has passed away from among us, but for your profit and for mine. We have seen how your mother used he* opportunities to make the world a little better than she found it. We may each do the same service in our own sphere." Along with the memoir, Mr. Hannaford also received a very kind letter from Lord Brassey.
