A SOLICITOR IN DIFFICULTIES.
|BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Thursday. At the Supreme Court in Banco, Mr. Chrisp moved "That W. Brassey, solicitor, be committed for contempt in having failed to comply with an order of the Supreme Court, directing him to pay Mr. Maude moneys which he had reoeived as solicitor." The Chief Justice said the application should have been made to strike Brassey off she roll. Mr. Cornford appeared for Mr. Brassey, and said he was absolutely unablo to pay. The Chief Justice said ho must commit Brassey to the Napier Gaol. Mr. Cornford asked for an adjournment to enable Brassey to file his schedule. His Honor said that would not provide a remedy. Mr. Chrisp consented to an adjournment for three hours, which was granted. On resuming, Mr.Chrisp announced that the money had been paid, and Mr. Brassey, who was in the custody of the sheriff, was discharged.
