THE WELLINGTON REGATTA
[by telegraph.—press association.] Wellington, Wednesday. The Wellington Rowing Club has adopted the Star Club's definition of amateur oarsman, but their entries for to-morrow's regatta were received too late.. The Wakatu Club crew will not bo allowed to compete, on the ground that they are professionals, and notice has been given them to surrender the cup which they won for the first time last year. This they have refused to do. It is understood, however, that the Wakatu's have decided to start in the senior outrigger, notwithstanding the decision of the Star Club. "Gunwale, in the Post, tips the Star Club for the Outrigged Fours, junior Fours, and Double Sculls, audlnrlggod Fours ; the Canterbury Club for the Ladies' Plate and Pairs, and either Copeland, Star, or Foster (Union, Christchurch) ; for Singlp Sculls, an easy victory for the Stars. Yesterday has revived confidence in the local club.
