THE OLD PEOPLE'S REFUGE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sib,—lt appears that the members if the Hospital Board hare at last set down their " y foot in connection with the price plana for !>* the Refuge, and that th«iy refuse to listen to the charming reasons of the architect for altering the design. In this respect they refuse to listen to the vcioe of the charmer, and high time, too, as there has been far too much of this kind of flapdoodling, both la engineering and architecting. If the architect of the prize design for the Refuge cannot bring his plans within the sum specified without reducing the dimensions, why does he not say so, and let the next competitor have a show, as the beet season of the year is being frittered away and nothing done.— I am, &c„ Humbug.
