The steamer returns from there on ThursThe brigantine Clansman came into port yesterday morning from Oairns, Queensland, after a somewhat long passage, which is attributed to the very light and variable winds met with daring the voyxge. The port named wo* left on the 29th January, but, owing to h-.ffl nK winds, had to come to an anchor again. On February 1 got underweigh again, with light , breeze and misty rain, whioh continued until, off Percy lilaud, when it came on to blow hard from S.E., thick with heavy rains, whioh drove the vessel back 50 mile*. On the Bth bore up for Soawfell Inland, and anchored in Refuge B»y, with 90 fathoms of cable. It was then blowing »h»rd gale. Left again on the 13th. with light N.W, breeze, whioh soon shifted to 5.8., and E., and continued durbg the rest of the passage* The schooner Keullworth, from Dunedin, with a full general cargo, arrived in port early yesterday morning after a fine weather passage of twelve days. She was soon after her arrival berthed at the Quoeu-itreet Wharf, where she will land her cargo. Mr. D. Gonk, who has bean down to the scene of the wreck of the cutter Meronry, returned to town by the s.s. Mararou yesterday morning. From him we learn that the diunuge done to the cutter is not of so serious a nature as at first believed. She went ashore near the E.-vst Cape on a sandy beach, and after some slight repairs were exeoated the cutter whs floated, but, a fresh easterly gale springing up soon afterwards, she again went ashore on the old spot, and there remains. It is Mr. Gouk'a intention to return to the scene of the wreck again in a few days, taking with him extra appliances, and he feels confident of being ultimately able to float the vessel and bring her to Auckland. The s.s. Wellington, from Whangarel, came inte harbour last evening, with cargo and passengers. She returns again to the same port this evening.
