[reotkr's telegram.] London, January 8. Tt is announced that Lord Cross has reconsidered his decision to resign, and has consented to retain the position of Secretary of State for India. It is stated that the Earl of Carnarvon will succeed Mr; Edward Stanhope as Secretary of State ; for the Colonies. 5 London, January 9. It is announced that Lord Salisbury will replace the Earl of Iddesleigh as Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. It has not yet been decided who shall succeed Mr. Edward Stanhope as Secretary of State for the Colonies. The Earl of Cadogan has been mentioned as likely to accept that portfolio. London, January 7. Earl Morley is mentioned as likely to succeed Mr. Stanhope as Secretary of State for the Colonics. London, January 9. The Times considers that Sir H. T. Holland, Vice-president of the Council, | is preferable to the Earl of Cadogan as Secretary of State for the Colonies, and | it regrets that Mr. E. Stanhope was transferred.
