PROPOSED LOAN FOR TAURANGA.
[by TELEGRAPH. CORRESPONDENT] Tauranga, Sunday, A largely-attended meeting of burgesses waß held on Friday evening, presided over by His Worship the Mayor (Rev. C. Jordan). A resolution was carried by a large majority to raise a loan of £8000 for paying off the existing bank-overdraft, the purchase and improvement of the wharves, widening the strand, drainage works, eto. A resolution was also passed to the jffeot that it is of great importance to this district that Thompson's track road from Katikati to Te Aroha be formed at once. At a subsequent meeting it was resolved to urge on the Government the necessity of appointing a local man to complete the purchase of native lands in this distriot.
