RE ONEHUNGA SCHOOL ADVERTISEMENT.
TO THE EDITOR. , , ~ Sir,—Candidates for the vaoant headmastership at Onehunga are cautioned " not to canvass either members of the Board or of the Sohool Committee," in the adrertisement inviting applications. But will you believe it that already, lotto too*, it is decided that » certain candidate tnuut be appointed, and from another province, be. came of hie wife. This is an insult and an injustice to the candidates, equally suitable - with the favoured outsider, who have been for years in the servioe of the Board. Bat it may be ©bjeoted s—"The Board ie to make a selection or arrangement .ot the candidates, and it will favour the local, com- < mittee with the result." Yea, of course, the Board is to do this, and innoh more, aft ; leant some of the members, and everything will then go off "like a marriage bell." Auokland teachers find it no easy matter to ■ obtain appointments in other provinces, but Our Board is so generous that every decent appointment must; when the vacancy ooonrs,'•■'* be reserved—that's the word—for an out« eider who how to work the oracle.— 1 am, *C,, AUQKtAWDBB,
