RELIGIOUS EQUALITY AT COURT.
o Tiib London correspond of tho Manchester Guardian hears that the Government meditateQ a somewhat novel step in the direction of religious equality : —"I understand that, for the first time in the history of the denomination, the president of the Wesleyan Conference, the Rc;v. Richard Koberts, is to bo presented at Court. It is true that the late Revs. Dr. L'unshon and G. T. Perks were presented to the Queen, as well as the present ex-president, the Rev. Dr. Greeves, but in each case it was in some private capacity. I believe the Rev. Richard Roberts is the first president of the Wesleyan Conference who in his official capacity obtains the honour, but I am told on good authority that the right will be recognised in the case of each future president. It is rumoured that the nobleman whose duty it is to decide upon the important question of costume was in considerable difficulty in this connection, and that the problem has been surmounted by the decision that the reverend gentleman shall appear in the attire of a bishop of the Episcopalian Church minus the lawn sleeves."
