The following applications for patents have been gazetted : —James Moody, Parnell. for an invention of brakes in connection with the carriage wheels, &0., to be called Moody's double-aotiou slide lever brake; Reginald Bayley, New Plymouth, for an invention for cement And oonorete ; Geo. McDonald, chief officer 8.8. Mahinapua, and James McLean, engineer, both of Dunedin, for an invention for the instant release of boats on board ship at sea, to be called McDonald and McLean's boat-clearing apparatus; Wra, 8. Clarke, Mount Eden, Auckland, plasterer, for an invention for Clarke's patent method for facilitating the manufacture of cast concrete blocks and slabs; Wm. S. Clarke, Mount Eden, Auckland, for an invontion for facing and making coloured concrete blocks and slabs for builders' purposes, to be called Clarke's patent coloured face conorete blocks or slabs ; Karl Teutenberg, Auckland, for an invention for choking, corrugating, indenting, stamping, or impressing capsular reoeptaoles, to be called Teuton berg's choking machine, When Elias Howe invented the sewing machine, he little thought that It would attain such perfection, or be found in every home. The public of Auckland can now see at Chambers Machine Shop, 20, Queen-street, some of the best and latent machines ever invented, which have been awarded prlaos at all the principa exhibitions in the world, The Auckland sales have really been teasive.
