NEWTON GRAMMAR SCHOOL.
The examination of the Newton Grammar School, conducted by the Rev. Peter Mason, 8.A., has jußt been concluded. The Rev, Mr, Sommerville examined in English history, and the Hev. Mr. Munro furnished the questions in geography for the second class. Mr. Mason Bent up two candidates for the last Civil Service Junior Examination, and both passed creditably. The following is the prize list: - Ist Class : —History : Ist, A. E. Smith ; 2nd, Thomas Sommerville. Grammar: Ist, A. K. Smith ; 2nd, W. Dickey. Geography : Ist, W. Dickny ; 2nd, A. E. Smith. Arithmetic : Ist, A. E. Smith ; 2nd. W. Dickey and G. Gee, equal. 2nd Class :—Grammar : Ist, A. G. Holland ami W. Hamley, equal, Geography : Ist, W. Hamley ; 2nd, K. Arthur ; 3rd, A. Herring. Arithmetic: Ist, A. Herring and William Hamley, equal. 3rd Class :—Arithmetic : Ist, Thomas Scott and William Colp, equal ; 2nd, A, G. Holland and W. G. Phillipps, equal. Reading, Ac,: Thomas Soott, George Sinton, for progress.
