GROWN LANDS BOARD.

The usual meeting of the Crown Lands Board was held yesterday. Present :— Mr. D. A. Tolo (Chairman and Chief Commissioner), Dr. Campbell, and Mr. Pearce. Floatage of Timber Act.—The Under* Secretary of the Crown Lands Department; notified that certain rivers were proclaimed for purposes of the Act, namely, Waikaro River, Kitiraira Stream or Creek, and the Waiahari Creek, the Kaiwaka River, and their tributaries. Tauranga Reserves. — The Under-Sec-retary no tided that certain reserves had been vested in the Tauranga Borough Council. Cambridge Reserves.—The Under-Seo-retary notified that certain reserves had been vested in the Cambridge Town Board, in lieu of those previously vested. Prospecting.—The Thames County Council forwarded a letter from the Thames Prospecting Association, asking for a grant in aid of £100 to enable them to take advantage of a grant of £200 offered by the Hon. Mr. Larnach, Minister of Mines.—The Board decided that they had no funds at their disposal for the purpose. Prospecting License.—W. A. Carruth applied for a prospecting license on behalf of J. W. McKay over the Whananaki block, Whangarei.—As it had been previously decided to offer the land for sale, the application was deferred. Prospecting Report.—R. M. Houetoa and others forwarded the usual monthly report of prospecting done by them at Mangonui. Refund.—Frank Stubbing applied for a refund of the deposit paid by him on a section in the Rangiriri block.—lt was resolved to inform applicant that the Board had ao power to remit payment. Reduction of Upset Price. — Mre. Syraonds applied to have upset price of section 4, block 1, Opuawhanga survey district, reduced.—Decided to ask the Sur-veyor-General to revise upset price.—H. J. Saulbery made a similar application in respect of lot 6, suburbs of Newcastle South.— Similar decision in this case. Application for Lease of Absence.— The following persons were granted leave of absence from their homeetead selections at Paparoa : — Mary Agnes Johnson, three months ; George Thomson, eight months. Extension of Tijie. —Six months extension of time was granted for the purpose of erecting a dwelling-house to J. P. Evans, Paparoa.

Homestead System.—Charles Grant applied to have Parihaka Block, Whangarei, thrown open to selection on the homestead system.—Request refused. Lease.—Edward Coatee applied for lease of portion of Hukatere Block, Matakohe, but as the ownership of the land was noC definitely settled, the request could not be complied with. Crown Grant.—The application from Frederick White for a grant of his homestead selection afc Okaihau was referred to Crown Lands Ranger to report. Perpetual Lkasing System. -An application under the above system in respect of tection 3, block 10, Maketu Survey District, from J. R. Biyte, was approved by thi§ .Board. Late Application- for Crown Gbant. —An application from John Buckley for a grant of portion of lot 95, Mareretu, selected by him under military land order, was approved. Drill-shed. —An application from Mr. Henry Higgins for site of drill-shei at Orraond was received.—Aβ lot applied for had been sold, it was resolved to ask the applicant to make another selection. Application f.>r Land. — F. L. Deaa applied to purchase Te Horeti, Nos. 2 and 3 blocks.—Te Horeti No. 2is native land, and could not be sold by Government. Aβ to No. 3, the Assistant Surveyor-General was to be asked to report as to the advisability of dieposiDg of it by sale or otherwise. —Edward Rollett applied to purchase certain land adjoining Manukau Harbour, bat the application was not entertained, as one portion was part of roadway, and the other a reserve. Takai'UNA. — The Assistant SurveyorGeneral reported that lot 213 in Takapuna was not required for any public purpose. Timber Floating.—R. Blair applied for a reduction of bonds as fixed by the Land Board in reepect to his timber application.— It was resolved to reduce bonds from £2500 to £1500. Miscellaneous.—A number of applications for land, of no publio interest, were received and dealt with.
