SUICIDE OF A MAORI AT KAURAPAKAPA.
A Maobi, about fifteen years of age, committed suicide on the 6th instant. Ho war named Watene Sullivan, He went ou ; v shooting with another boy about ten yearn old, and whilst walkic? with him said bo wondered what wan *h<s easiest way to die. The younger lad was souse distance behind when he heard the report of the gun, and ran to WateDe. When he canso up, Watcn-! was lying on the ground quite dead, she contents of the gun having gone right through his head, as he had the muzzle of the gun in his mouth. The Coroner, Mr. J. P. Clendon, was immediately telegraphed for, and yesterday held an inquest en the body. The jury was composed of ten •Maories and two Europeans, and after having the evidence and remarks from coroner, found a verdict of death from a gun-shot wound while labouring under tern* oorary insanity.—[Own Correspondent, Uth June.]
