At the special meeting of the Borough Council called by the ratepayers for yesterday evening, to rescind the motion of the 7th instant, ordering .the discontinuance of the taxation of Mr. Hay's bill of costs, the previous resolution was adhered to, and the matter settled on the following basis:— That Mr. Hay's account be paid on Mr. Hay undertaking to pay all ■ costs already incurred in the proceedings, so far as they have gone, exceeding the amount of £8.. Ohatjpo, Friday. The largest number of live stock ever sent from this station left on : Wednesday for Auckland, namely, 31 truck.loads, which would be augmented to 40 by the time the train left the Delta. The fact that the siding only accommodates 15 trucks for loading at a time, was matter of great inconvenience, the first 16 trucks, for loading having to be shunted by hand two at a time a distance of 200 yards before the others could draw up to load. A well-known character named Sanky, who was committed last week for drunkenness, was to-day' charged under the Public Works Act with being drunk on the railway platform at the time of the arrival of a train at Hamilton Junction! Station. .He ' wae committed for two months to Mount Eden, also fined 50s and ■ costs or two months for usiog blasphemous and obscene language on the public road. - • ..."
