PONSONBY REGATTA CLUB.
The annual meeting of the Ponsonby Regatta Club was held on Saturday evening last at the club-room, Ponsonby Club Hotel. There wa3 n very good attendance, T. T. Masefield occupying the chair. In opening the proceedings he said that it was hardly necessary to ask the gentlemen present whether they should hold their annual meeting or otherwise, for when he looked round and saw so many Ponsonby residents present interested in aquatic pursuits, it was a suffioient answer to the question. He was quite sure they would not follow in the steps of their Deronport friends, who, it seemed, had failed this year to carry out their regatta, but would (especially with the fact before them that they had a credit balance of £18 in hand) not only carry out the regattai as usual, but with increased efforts on the part of the committee make this their fourth regatta even a greater success than those already held. The Chairman then called upon the Secretary to read the minutes of laet meeting, also the balanceiheet for the past year. From the balancesheet, it was shown that the receipts were £IS7 19s 7d, and the expenditure £169 9s Id, leaving a credit balance of £1S 10s 6d. The balance-sheet was adopted. The election of officers was then proceeded with, and resulted as follows Patron, His Worship the Mayor; President, Mr. T. Peacock, M.H.8.. Vice-Presidents : Messrs. A. Boardman ; J. A. Tole, M.H.R.; "W. Swanson, M.H.R.; J. H. Upton, and Captain Harrison. Committee: Messrs. J. Cunningham, J. Dacre, F. Jagger, B. Gilmer, C. Langsford, T. T. Masefield, G. Smith, J. B. Morpeth, L. Phillips, J. Stodart, W. Stanford, C. Waluutt, A. W. Farquhar, W. Sloane, Theo. Cooper, F. Quick, A. Devore, Alf. Jones, E. Lewis, C. Culpan, Captain Farquhar. Umpire, Mr. J. Stodart; starter, Captain W. Farquhar ; Treasurer, Mr. W. F. Jones ; ton. Secretary, Mr. D. F. Evans; auditor, Hr. J. J. Dixon. It was resolved that the regatta be held on Easter Monday. The Chairman then in a few appropriate words proposed a hearty vote of thanks to the hon. Secretary and Treasnrer, and in doing so he paid them a high compliment for the manner in which they had discharged their many and arduous duties, and attributed mach of the success of the past regattas to their energy and ability. Votes of thanks to Mr. Stanford for the use of the clab-room, and to the Chairman, concluded the business.
