SCHOOL COMMITTEE ELECTIONS.
HOBS ONVILLE. At a public meeting of householders held at Hobsonville at four p.m. of the 28th January, the following gentlemen were elected members of the school committse for 1884 : —Messrs. Scott, Clark, Ellice, J. and A. Dorriker, Occleatone, and Smith, and at the subsequent meeting of the new committee Mr. Scott was chosen Chairman, and Mr. Ellice Treasurer and Secretary. The accounts of 1883, duly audited by the Public Auditor, were submitted, and everything passed off to general satisfaction,—[A Correspondent, January 29.] MA OKU. The annual meeting of householders to elect a school committee was held on Monday, January 28. The report and balance-sheet were read and adopted. The following resolution was moved by Mr. P. Henry, and seconded by Mr. Fullerton :—"That this meeting would wish the Board of -Education to inform them—l. Why is the Mauku school district to be divided ? 2. Who asked for it to be divided ? 3. What is the cause of the change ?" The motion was carried. It was also resolved, "That if the Board of Education are determined to divide the district, this meetiDg will only agree to the road known as Rodger's being the division, and from its termination at Malony's corner in a straight line to the Waikato." The following were elected as a school committee for the ensuing year:—Messrs. Chrispe, J. Moor, J. Watson, McFadden, P. Henry, C. JSott, and D. Fnllerton. By some strange plan of the Board of Education, two committees were being elected at the same time for the same district, for though it is proposed to divide, no boundaries are fixed, and there is but one district till that is done,—[Own Correspondent, January 29. J PAKURANGA. At the annual meeting of householders, in the Pakuranga district, Mr. A. Bell occupied the chair. The following was the result of the ballot for the members of the committee Messrs. E. F. Fitzpatrick, 42; W. Andrew, 41; J. Roberts, 31 ; R. Massey, 29 ; J. May, 22; A. Bell, 21 ; E. Roberts, 20 ; J. Fortune, 14 ; C. Pye, 14 ; and W. W. Hutchinson, 8. The first seven were elected. After votes of thanks to the scrutineers and Chairman, the meeting olosed. The committee at its first meeting elected Mr. E. Titzpatrick Chairman.—[A Correspondent.] PUKEKOHE WEST. At the annual meeting of householders for the above district Messrs. James Latimer, Alexander Gregory, George Russell, M. A. Murray, Jacob Henry Wright, William Morrow, and Luke Wilson were elected a school committee for the ensuing year. Mr. R. C. Taylor was Chairman of the meeting. ARARIMU SOOTH. At a meeting of householders of the Ararimu school district, for the purpose of electing a committee for the present year, nearly every householder in the district was present. Mr. R. Phelan was elected Chairman. The report of the outgoing committee was read and adoped. The following householders were declared by the Chairman to be duly elected : —Messrs. Kiley, 38 ; Keaney, 37 ; Sinclair, 36 ; Quane, 36; Phelan, 34 ; Kelcher, 33 ; and Shaw, 33. A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the meeting. A meeting of the newly-eleoted committee was held immediately afterwards, and Mr. Phelan was elected Chairman, and Mr. Keaney Secretary,—[Communicated.] WARKWORTfI. At the annual meeting of householders Mr. L. Thomson was voted to the chair. The Secretary and Treasurer, Mr. Thomas Sanderson, read the account of the pats year's income and expenditure. The receipts, including a credit balance in January, 1883, of £5 sb, amounted to £32 lis. The expenditure exhausted the funds in hand. There were eleven persons nominated as a committee for next year. Mr. T. Sanderson was appointed returning officer, and Messrs. Warin and Munro scrutineers. The following is the result of the poll :—Rev. R, McKinney, 19 ; N. Wilson, 14 ; 0. Thomson, 10; H. Bradnam, 8; T. Snell, 6: J. Southgate, 5; H, N. McMurdo, 4; W. J. Southgate, 4; E. Morrison, 3 ; P. J. Russell, 3; and L. Thomson, 1. Mr. J. Southgate retired, and the returning officer declared the following seven duly elected :—Rev. R. McKinney, Messrs. Wilson. C. Thomson, Bradnam, T. Snell, McMurdo, and W. J. Southgate. The committee met immediately after, and elected Mr. Wilson Chairman, and Mr. T. Sanderson Secretary and Treasurer.—[Own Correspondent, January 29.] OMAHA. At the annual meeting of householders for the election of a committee for the ensuing year, Mr. James Greenwood presided. The Treasurer (Mr. T. W. Knaggs), read the abstract of receipts and expenditure. The following gentlemen were elected by ballot,, as the committee—viz., Messrs. Angos Matheson, Thomas W. Knaggs, William Greecwood, James Greenwood, Joseph Wyatt, Alexander Kempt, and John Wyatt. Messrs. T. Handly, and Thomas Wyatt were the scrutineers. The committee held a meeting immediately afterwards, and elected Mr. Angus Matheson, Chairman, and Mr. Thomas W. Knagga, Secretary and Treasurer.—[Own Correspondent, January 28.] Sixty-two oil paintings of English scenery, by Mr. C. Morris, aro now on view at John Reid and Co.'s Stores, Queen-street, and will ba sold by auction In a few days, Messrs. B. Tonks and Co. will sell to-day, at noon, a number of properties in the estate of the late Mr. David White; both in the city, suburbs, and country.
