IMPRESS ASSOCIATION. J WELLINGTON, Friday. At a meeting of creditors to-day in the estate of Henry Mace, a motion recommending hiß immediate discharge was carried unanimously. KELSON, Friday. A fire is reported from Motueka Valley. It originated in a barn near Mr. Bromell's accommodation house, and the barn, with its contents—comprising tie produce of forty acres oaten hay and about forty bushels of wheat—were destroyed. Sparks also ignited an unoccupied house, which was also destroyed. The latter was insured in the Northern Office for £200, and the barn, &c., were uncovered by insurance. Mr. Bromell estimates his loss at £150. REEFTON, Friday. Mr. Wakefield addressed a meetiug of the electors at Boatman's last night, and received a vote of confidence. CHRISICHURCH, Friday. The work of loading frozen mutton on the British King commenced this morning. OAMARU, Friday. At the Di-trict Court to-day, Judge Ward said that in the absence of the proclamation constituting the District under the Licensing I Act of 18S1, he could not hold that the Act was iu force. A previous convict'.on in the Resident Magistrate's Court was, On the strength of this opinion, quashed by His. Honor. DUNE DIN, Friday. Mr. M. W. Groen, M. H.R., has addressed a lengthy letter to the Colonial Treasurer, pointing out the impracticability of his National Insurance Scheme ; also shadowing forth one of his own, and asking the Treasurer to lay hi* aside and assist iu getting a law passed giving force to the otber. Mr. Green 1 iys his schemc before a public meeting on Thursday. The inquest on the boy Henry Wain, seven and a half years old, sou of Frederick Wain, concerning whom the reports of illtreatment have been published, began to-day. The only witness examined to-day was Mrs. Mitchell, a nurse, who had been attending Mrs. Wain during her confinement, and whose attention was attracted to the boy by his mberable appearance. The parents afterwards plac. d the boy in her charge, paying for lii.i keep. She deposed to having seen Mrs. Wmu tie the boy's hands behind his head, and Mrs. Wain has to d her this was done to restrain him from an evil habit be had acquired. The inquest. ■ will be resumed on Monday.
