ALFHA V. UNION C.C.

This match, played at Avondale on Saturday, resulted in a rather easy win for the Alphas. Wallace and Archibald bowled in good form for the Union C.C., whilst J. Archibald was the only batsman to score at all off the bowling of Goodacre and Done (Alpha), the former taking four wiekets for six runs, and the latter four for nine. Goodacre (25), Cutler (14), Done (13), and Nesbitt (12) shaped well for their scores, especially the first, whose leg-hitting was almost perfect. On the 15th of December this match was played at Oruru. The day was fine, and a considerable number of ladies graced the field with their presence. The Mangonui club is at a great disadvantage for want of practice. The match was won by the Oruru team. The return match is to be played at Hihi on Year's Day, when a good muster is expected. A cricket match was played on the Domain cricket ground between the Eden and Hekald C.C.'s, which resulted in favour of the Kilen by 12 runs, the match being decided on the first innings. Scores : Eden, first innings 50, second iunings 40 ; Hkrald, first innings 33. The batting of Laird (14) and May (19) for the Eden, and Shaw (17) for for the Hkrald was very good. In a cricket match on Saturday on the Domain-ground, played amongst members of the West End C.C., D. Berry by steady play contributed 73 runs ; Siin (23) and Curtayne (20) are also worthy of mention.
