: Ax attempt to murder, under circumstances : well-nigh unprecedented in the annals ol : [ crime in Austria, was perpetrated in Vienna : oa Sunday. A youngman of five-and-twent}, : clerk in a merchant's office, had for some ! time kept company with a shop-girl, but baa j latterly disgusted her with violent scenes ot jealousy. She consequently resolved en a rupture, and a few days ago went to_stay -with some relations -who keep a reireshment bar at the Central Cemetery, situated a couple of miles outside the. town. Thither her paramour followed '« r oa Sunday, and on meeting with a cool reception from the girl, whom he found at tne bar, without saying a -word fired at her wiJl a bulldog revolver, which he had concealed in hia breast pocket. He niiss" 1 fir* three times, and the girl's screams having summoned assistance, she contrived to escape. The first to arrive was a polieeniAD, who, while struggling with the aggressor, received a. bullet in the abdomen, infl . ic .y n ;j a dangerous injury. Eventually the leiiow was overpowered, and placed in custody.
